There are many things that tend to occur naturally in our western culture and diet, that would tip the scales more towards the acidic, so to balance things back out we need to be conscious of how much of those things we indulge in, and purposefully aim to include alkalising foods into our diet. One great alkalising vegetable is spinach. Now, before you start gagging and say “I’ll never eat spinach”, there’s a very easy way to get this powerful vegetable down your throat in a  rather tasty fashion. Spinach is a superfood. It is loaded with tons of nutrients in a low-calorie package. Dark, leafy greens like spinach are important for skin, hair, and bone health. They also provide protein, iron, vitamin C and A, magnesium, potassium, and folic acid. Studies have shown that adding just a cup of spinach to your diet each day will help aid in digestion, prevent constipation, maintain blood sugar, and even help curb your appetite if you are trying to lose weight. Las t month we discu sse d aspects of SLEEP , and how to obtain a good portion of it during the night. When I create essential oil samples and ask people what health concern is their top priority right now, the most asked for sample is something to tackle STRESS , followed by sleep support. Things you may not know about having a baby

Fair Warning: this blog post may just be too much information for some. After giving birth to my fourth baby, I thought it was about time I wrote something of the little lessons I’ve learnt. Things that don’t often get talked about.  It’s not my intention to be negative about birth – hey, I went back a fourth time so I truly believe it’s worth it. I think it’s nice to be prepared and have a balanced outlook. And if you can talk about it with a little smidge of humour tossed in, I think it helps to walk through those times with a little wry, knowing smile. These points are all from the perspective of vaginal births and breastfeeding. Again, it is not my intention to negatively reflect on the experience of others who have chosen – for whatever reason – to have caesarean section births or to formula feed. I am merely speaking from my own personal experiences and choices, to which you may relate if you have also had vaginal births and chosen to breastfeed. Things you m...

When sleep is an ever-elusive dream... One of the reasons I first tried essential oils was because of the testimonies I'd heard that told of the incredible improvement in the quantity and quality of sleep. For years I'd been a night owl, to my own detriment. Even if I tried to go to bed at a reasonable hour, I would be left tossing and turning for a couple of hours until my never-ending thoughts finally melded into vivid dreams. And it often wouldn't matter if I was exhausted - I often still couldn't get to sleep quickly. Then I will arise in the morning like a moaning zombie, with matching posture and slack jawed face, until I can finally perk up some time around mid-morning. Having children meant that my sleep was disturbed further, but my inability to shut off my brain at night still continued despite my exhaustion, leaving me in a dreadful state of sleep deprivation. Somehow, I learnt to survive and partially function. But the effects of sleep-loss can ...
